CORE BITS WITH TUNGSTEN CARBIDE CUTTERS

Characteristics and usage

Core bits with tungsten carbide (TC) cutters are used for drilling in soft rock formations to medium-hard non-abrasive & semi-abrasive rock formations.

Crown of the bit is set with cutters (also called TC segments, inserts, or elements) from tungsten carbide. Size and distribution of the cutters is given by the type of a bit and the rock formation that will be drilled. Multiple cutting edges of these bits gives them good cutting characteristics.

Usage:

• Setting up of construction sites
• Geological exploration – for drilling through initial shallow rock formations
